Pretty Woman - The Musical Indianapolis Theatre reviews
Nothing like it!
1 - There were a few low points, starting with children... who simply can't control themselves all that well. They cry, they talk, they kick your chair and hit you with their light sabers. Ya gotta love 'em, but parents these days don't do much about it. Why parents would let their 6 year olds into a crowded public place with 3' long stick boggles the mind. This is the kind of event that brings young children.
2 - The amplified sound was plenty loud though! Bad acoustics in the HP pavilion required that the orchestra be amplified. It's not a concert hall, and as such, you don't get to hear the orchestra directly, which is one of the great things about going to a symphony.
3 - The layout of the wonderful Lucas Archives movie props was unfortunate. Having them on the left AND right side of the narrow corridors meant that the corridors were all but impassable at times. This might be different at different venues.
Other than these three things.... the show was astounding. The live video of the orchestra, the film clips, and the layered artwork were well produced though perhaps too talkative at times. The orchestra performed nearly flawlessly (except for the escape from Death Star and TIE fighter attack... which was, for some inexplicable reason, played about 10-20% too slow... which really took from the piece for anyone that really knows the music).
The show was in 2 segments with 30 minutes intermission. Anthony Daniels was the perfect choice as presenter. Other than that, seats to the side, slightly elevated, might have been a better choice.... the vantage point being more important than the angle to the giant HD screen. The best seats are right up front within the first 10 to 15 rows.
Well lit with laser effects, and other surprises make it unforgettable. Don't miss it. Bring your well behaved children unarmed!
